Meet Christine, supervisor of Gas Control for Peoples Gas. Growing with our company for 19 years, she has gained a diversified portfolio of experience in gas control, customer service, rebate processing, and engineering.
For the last 10 years, Christine has worked in Gas Control and a supervisor for the last three. She loves knowing she and her team play a part in keeping the community safe by monitoring natural gas on our system 24 hours a day.
Her responsibilities include overseeing a team of gas analysts that monitor pressures, flow rates, and volumes of natural gas running through pipelines throughout the Peoples Gas Florida service areas. Christine trains others on how to use the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA). This system plays a vital role to efficiently process data used for effectively monitoring natural gas pressures.
Like many of us have realized over the last few months, it is hard working through a pandemic. Christine has found balancing her work schedule to meet the needs of her family has been her biggest challenge. “It’s difficult to stop working when I’m home because there is so much to do, but I balance my workload and adjust my schedule to fit,” she explained.
Christine has two children ages six and eight, so she has been actively involved with their schoolwork. “My children don’t quite understand that I have to work even when I am home,” Christine said. One real upside to working from home has been seeing my family more. I typically have a long drive to and from the office, so without that commute I’m spending more time with my children. I’m thankful our company puts safety first and provides everything I need to do my work remotely.”
Over the years, Christine has worked with company mentors that have inspired her to grow personally and professionally. She also takes advantage of the company’s tuition reimbursement program and is working towards her bachelor’s degree in Leadership and Change Management.
