Meet Marcus Dosal, utility technician for Peoples Gas working in our St. Petersburg service area. Marcus has been with Peoples Gas for almost seven years and when he is not busy helping customers, he also volunteers on the company’s Inclusion and Diversity council as well as the Safety council.
As a utility technician, Marcus performs service calls like turning on service for new customers, inspecting the safety of gas lines and piping by checking pressures, and connecting appliances for residential and commercial customers. He also responds to any natural gas emergencies.
Marcus enjoys going the extra mile in his job. “I love where I work, and I love helping customers and fellow team members. I try to go above and beyond to make sure customers have a great experience with our company.” he says. Becoming a familiar face and a helping hand to many customers, Marcus recalls one time he was able to help a disabled elderly customer change a lightbulb. He volunteered to access damages to gas lines when Hurricane Michael hit the panhandle and was able to support restoration of services to bring comfort to a devasted community. And he regularly works with the company’s emergency services team and is on 24-hour standby once a month to assist with urgent natural gas responses that may arise.
As for his future plans, Marcus wants to continue his professional development within operations and is currently enrolled in the company’s tuition reimbursement program working on his Associate of Arts degree. One personal goal Marcus has for 2021 is to learn to speak Spanish, a labor of love since his father is from Spain and his wife is from Colombia.
